Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is confident he will be starting the season
against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Czech star is battling with Italian Carlo Cudicini for the number one
berth at Stamford Bridge, with both playing an almost equal role during
pre-season.
However, Cech is confident that Blues coach Jose Mourinho will give him
the chance to start against The Red Devils after playing over an hour of their
last friendly against Real Zaragoza.
"It looks more like me," admitted Cech to the Czech media.
"In the last friendly match I played the biggest part in the match.
"If we're are going on the last match, I was number one so I suppose I will
be the privileged one."
Cech admitted that he was looking forward to the game and he did not feel
any nerves.
"No at all, every match so far has been very exciting for me," he continued
.
"I go into every game with full enthusiasm and I give 100 percent, the same
will happen against Manchester."
Despite competing closely with Cudicini, Cech insists he and the Italian
are good friends.
"We have a very good relationship," he said.
"Even when I was just settling in, he helped me.
"I am very nicely surprised, the atmosphere is good here.
"I have heard about bad relationships when I came to Chelsea, but this is
not true."
Cech was then asked about Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.
"He is among us a lot, he enjoys it," said Cech.
"For example I came for one game and everyone was getting changed, and all
at once I see Abramovich - he sat inconspicuously in the corner.
"He is quiet, says nothing and he just watches with interest.
"I think he dreams of what it would be like if he had become a footballer!
"He just engrosses everyone with his energy."
