"I will stay in London until the end of the month,” the Chelsea manager said.
"I have work to do and my kids have a few more days at school. Then we will go
to Portugal for a few days to see family, to see home. After that, we fly to a
secret place. Where nobody knows me, I hope.

"We have our decisions made (about transfer targets). Of course, we still have
to work on them, but they are made and I am not worried about them. There are
not many deals, just two, and it’s not a lot of work for Peter Kenyon (the
Chelsea chief executive) and the board. Last season we had ten players away
and ten in. That was 20 deals, but not this time.”

Anyway, one of Mourinho’s two prospective deals may be as good as completed
already. Asier del Horno, the Athletic Bilbao left back, could hardly contain
himself yesterday as he contemplated life in West London on the back of a
proposed ￡12.4 million move. As usual, the pay cheque from Roman Abramovich,
the Chelsea owner, was difficult to turn down, too.
