Everton have revealed that they are 'close' to landing Mikael Forssell.
The highly-rated Finn missed most of last season through injury, after
beginning the campaign on loan to Birmingham City from Chelsea - as he did
the year before.
Despite his injury lay-off demand has not been hard to come by, as Birmingham,
Tottenham, Portsmouth and a number of German sides were also keen on setting
up a deal.
However, Everton - who are also close to tying up a deal for Scott Parker -
have now confirmed they are set to land the 24-year-old.
"We haven't reached agreement yet, but we are not far apart now," Toffees
chief executive Keith Wyness told his club's website.
Everton, who finished fourth and secured a UEFA Champions League place,
have wasted little time in bolstering their squad.
Simon Davies has already arrived from Tottenham and now a double deal with
Chelsea for Forssell and Parker appears imminent.
