Chelsea looking at a night of firsts versus CSKA

Jose Mourinho has backed Mateja Kezman to open his goalscoring account for
Chelsea when Stamford Bridge plays host for the first ever time to a
competitive visit from a Russian side.

Team goals have proved easier to come by in the Champions League than the
Premiership so far with six in two European games as opposed to eight in nine
on the domestic front and while Mourinho finds this difference hard to explain,
he sees it as a good chance for his Serbian striker to help himself to a goal
or two.

“A good player doesn’t become a bad player in one month,” Mourinho said of
Kezman. “He is still a great player, he is still a goalscorer. Sometimes my
feelings are correct and I have a feeling that tomorrow he will score a goal.”

“At this moment I don’t have Didier Drogba so I have to forget him and don’t
want to speak about him. My strikers are Kezman and Gudjohnsen, I trust them
and they will play again, no change,” Mourinho revealed.

While not denying that his current attacking resources are looking a little
thin with the unavailability of Didier Drogba and Adrian Mutu, Mourinho is not
unduly concerned.

He said: “I hope everything is improving. Today it is four weeks for Drogba to
come back and when we play away in Moscow, it is two weeks. In Moscow maybe
Robben can play. He is not a striker but maybe Damien Duff can play as a
striker.

“It is difficult to understand,” the manager admitted over the discrepancy in
Chelsea’s potency in front of goal between the European and Premiership
campaigns.

“In fact over the nine Premiership matches, we are the team with the most
attempts on goal. We had I think 124 goal chances in nine matches which is a
remarkable concentration but we don’t score enough goals.

“In Paris we had six shots and scored nine goals. We play against Porto and
first shot – goal - and I would say again six chances and three goals.

“In cannot say in Europe it is easier than the Premiership because Porto and
PSG are good sides. I cannot say we are better in Europe than at home because

at Man City he couldn’t score with a ten metre shot. Why? Just because it is
like this, that is football. I am not worried.

“I try to study myself the reasons why, I try to communicate to the players
and everyday we try to arrive at conclusions and improve.

“I read today Damien Duff saying we work so hard to improve but in this moment
we are not scoring goals. I prefer to say that because we are working so hard
and because the players are so good, the day will arrive and when the day

Chelsea face CSKA Moscow with a 100 per cent record and six points in Champions
League Group H. CSKA are currently second, two points behind. Wednesday
evening’s Russian experience will not just be a new one for Chelsea as a club.
It will also be another stamp in the already well-thumbed football passport for
the boss.

切爾西在歐冠H小組積六分全勝來迎戰中央陸軍.中央陸軍最近爬到第二,落後2分.

“I have more than 100 games in European competition either as an assistant or
manager and this is the first time I play a Russian side. But I know enough
about their football culture to know how the game will be and I can imagine the
difficulties we will have to face because of their philosophy of play.

'我在歐洲賽事有超過100場的經驗,不管是做助理還是教練.這是我第一次和俄羅斯隊伍對
陣.但是我也很了解他們的足球文化也知道他們如何踢球,我可以想像這場比賽的困難,因為
他們有不一樣的足球哲學.'


He concluded: “Nine or ten points always gets a team into the next stage so if
we get three points tomorrow it will be fantastic for us.”
