Mourinho on Tottenham's coach and Chelsea's bus

Jose Mourinho famously described Tottenham’s ultra-defensive display at
Stamford Bridge in September as ‘parking the bus in front of goal’.
He expects a different Spurs on Saturday as Chelsea look to make it
six Barclays Premiership wins in a row.

In fact the Chelsea manager has gone as far as suggesting Tottenham’s
attacking style since Martin Jol has taken over from Jacques Santini
(in charge the last time the sides met) means Chelsea will at times need
to station our own large passenger vehicle appropriately during the re-match.


“We go away and we bring the bus this time,” he admitted. “We go to
Tottenham to win but the way they attack, maybe we need to park the bus.
Not for 90 minutes like they did at Stamford Bridge but for sure during
some difficult moments in the game. They are a strong team.

“They are one of the best teams at this moment and the same way I was a
bit critical of them when they face us, I now take my hat off and say that
they are playing fantastic football.”



Mourinho has praise for the job Dutch coach Jol has done since taking
total control.



“He has won the Manager of the Month and he deserved it. That is the best
compliment I can give him. Tottenham changed completely with him. They had
one or two bad weeks but that is normal, the transition is never easy.



“After that they play well, they score goals, they win matches and they
also have a team for the future. Only Naybet is an old one but he is a top
old one. I never like to play against him because he is an intelligent
defender.



“Defoe is really dangerous. This morning we show to the players a video
of the striker movements of Defoe, Kanoute and Keane and it was fantastic,
all with different qualities. Defoe has some very difficult movements for
defenders.”



Mourinho’s attempt to get the better of strong opponents and register
his away win over Spurs is helped by no new injury worries.



Tiago is fit and available despite limping off midweek and Arjen Robben
is back from suspension. Just Ricardo Carvalho (broken toe), Robert Huth
(ankle) and Scott Parker (broken foot) are ruled out.



Spurs have Frederic Kanoute facing a fitness test having missed the last
two games with a hamstring problem. Midfielder Simon Davies is back in
training after illness but is unlikely to be ready while defender Thimothee
Atouba and midfielders Sean Davis and Rohan Ricketts are definitely out
injured.



As every Chelsea fan knows and every Spurs fan tries to forget, Chelsea
head to White Hart Lane hoping to make it 30 league games without defeat
against the north Londoners. The past record is not something Mourinho
places importance on.

record against Blackburn at Stamford Bridge but we beat them for the
first time in the Premiership, 4-0. And that can happen the other way.

“I hope my players aren’t affected also. I told them this morning the
good examples. Chelsea had a good record at Man City, we lost at Man

Chelsea had a bad record over the Christmas period, we won every match.
It is not important.”
