http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=250430 Terry hot on history Tuesday, Jan 18, 2005 John Terry has revealed that he used Chelsea’s phenomenal past record against Tottenham to help motivate his team-mates to another victory over our London rivals at the weekend. The win made it 30 league games unbeaten against Spurs and also took our overall current winning run to six consecutive games, a new record for Chelsea in the Premier League. But it was the Tottenham total that was the talk of the dressing room prior to kick-off according to the skipper, particularly amongst the newer arrivals. Speaking to Chelsea TV after the final whistle, Terry said: “A few of the lads were asking about the record before the game and just saying how long has it been and why is it we haven’t lost against Tottenham. “I drummed it into them that we are not going to be the side that comes here and loses. That is what we all said, you don’t want to be remembered as the team that played here and lost. We were definitely not going to be part of that. “It is a tough place to come even though the record has been so brilliant. Martin Jol has done a great job, they look more solid and I think they were putting out a statement that they were not going to park the bus when they put Ledley [King] up front!” he added, making reference to Jose Mourinho’s assessment of the earlier meeting in September. Frank Lampard was in agreement that keeping the 15-year run going was not easy. He said: “This thing we have over Tottenham is almost worrying at times because you know it has to end and it is great to make it another game. I’ve been involved in a few of them now and it is nice. “You have to give respect to Tottenham, they have been playing well recently and it was a game we could have lost if we were not at our best and worked as hard as we did.” As well as team statistics, the Spurs game also set-down a personal milestone for Terry — his 200th Chelsea game. “It is great for me to have come such a long way having come through the ranks and started so young. To make 200 appearances is, believe me, a great achievement for me.” by Paul Mason ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 呆會在番啦.... -- ocmcocmcocmk**no surprises. k**no surprises. a heart thats full up like a land fill. a job that slowly kills you. bruises that wont heal. you look so tried_nhappy. bring down the government. they dont. theydontspeak for us. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.168.35.227
