Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has singled out England striker Wayne Rooney
as the top man at Euro 2004 and predicts he will star on the biggest stage for
years to come.

In his column for O Jogo newspaper, Mourinho wrote: 'Rooney for me is the
biggest personality in the competition, an emerging talent who is guaranteed
to be seen for many World Cups and European Championships to come.'

Mourinho also had a word of praise for Denmark's Jesper Gronkjaer who scored
his side's second goal against Bulgaria after joining the squad late because
of the death of his mother.

Mourinho wrote: 'After seeing his mother's suffering in the final stages, the
shock and sadness at her death, he returned to normal life and his life of
playing and scoring.

'Probably Jesper did no more than his mother asked him to do but he was a
superman to be able to react the way he did. Many, many congratulations.'

Chelsea agreed a fee with Birmingham for Gronkjaer on Friday.
