Mourinho denies Dyer rumours


Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports that he is lining up a move
for Newcastle's unsettled England international Kieron Dyer.

It had been reported that the Premiership's big spenders were ready to offer
German defender Robert Huth in a bid to bring Dyer to Stamford Bridge, but
Mourinho described the rumours as "totally untrue."

Newcastle manager Graeme Souness has said that the story originally circulated
from the capital.

He claimed that although the Geordie club had enquired about the availability
of Huth, Dyer's name hadn't been mentioned in any possible deal.

Huth is currently out of the first team at Chelsea and behind John Terry,
Ricardo Carvalho and William Gallas in the running for a centre-back berth.

Souness sees him as a potential candidate to replace the departed Jonathan
Woodgate and to bolster a struggling Newcastle defence.
