POMPEY LAUGH OFF YAKUBU RUMOURS

Portsmouth have laughed off rumours linking leading scorer Yakubu Ayegbeni with
a January move to Chelsea.
The London club are suffering from a striker shortage and speculation is rife
that they will bring in a high profile forward in January.
Yakubu is one of the form striker's in the top-flight and reports have
suggested that Jose Mourinho is preparing a ￡10million bid.
The stories also claimed Pompey would be forced to allow the Nigerian
international to leave as his contract contained an ￡8million get-out clause.
However, Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie insisted that he had heard
nothing from Chelsea and that claims of a get-out clause in Yakubu's contract
were simply untrue.
"It's absolute nonsense. It makes me laugh," Storrie told the Portsmouth News.
"In the summer there was meant to be a clause saying we had to sell him if
there was a bid of more than ￡6million. Now it's ￡8million.
"But there's no such clause at any price. We don't have to sell him if we don't
want to. So dream on."
The 22-year-old has netted six times in ten Premiership outings this term,
following his 16-goal return last season.
