Robben gets on his bike

Arjen Robben is planning to cycle to work when Chelsea move into their new
training ground in Cobham.


The Dutch winger may be the most exciting talent to emerge in the Premiership
this season but he has not forgotten his roots.


As a youngster Robben was known as the 'Boy on the Bike' in his native Holland
because of his habit of cycling the 13 kilometres from his home in the village
of Bedum to training at FC Groningen - and he is preparing to repeat the
journey.


The 20-year-old has bought a house in Cobham and will cycle the short distance
to training when Chelsea move to their new home in July 2006.


Robben's father Hans, who also acts as his agent, said: "He has always cycled
to games. In this town it is normal-that you go to school on bike. Thirteen
kilometres there, 13 back and you do it, no question.


"When he was playing in the first team he also went by bike. He asked me,
'Dad can you bring me?' and I said, 'No. I can't'. When they go to the new
training ground he goes by bike again. His house is two minutes away."


Robben scored his fifth goal in as many games when he netted for Holland on
Wednesday-in their 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra.
