Chelsea agree Kezman fee


Chelsea say they have agreed a fee with PSV Eindhoven for Mateja Kezman.


The Serbian international striker will travel to London next week to finalise
personal terms, undergo a medical and arrange a work permit.


Kezman, 25, who has scored 105 goals in four seasons at PSV, had been linked
with Charlton.


"He is one of the top strikers in Europe and will be an excellent addition to
our squad," chief executive Peter Kenyon told the club's website.


In the 2002-03 season, Kezman scored 35 goals in 33 games which was the highest
 total in Holland since Marco van Basten's 37 for Ajax in 1987.


The striker had also previously been linked with Birmingham and Fulham.


In May, Birmingham made PSV an offer for Kezman but they could not reach an
agreement with the Eindhoven outfit.


The player was also a reported target of Liverpool and Kezman himself admitted
in May he was close to a switch to Anfield.


"Liverpool are back in the race (to sign me), that's true. It is a marvellous
club with a great history. It would be great to join that club," he told De
Telegraaf newspaper at the time.
