The situation will be reviewed at the end of the loan period. Crespo joined Chelsea from Milan’s big city rivals Inter last summer in a ￡16.8 million move. In an interrupted season at Stamford Bridge he made 31 appearances, ten as substitute, and scored 12 goals - the last coming in the Champions League semi-final away leg. In spending a year on loan at the reigning Serie A Champions, Crespo will be reunited with Carlo Ancelotti, his manager at Parma during the spell when the Argentinian striker built his reputation in Europe.
