Jose squad of 23 reveals his preferences

    There are no surprises in the squad of 23 who have travelled to the USA,

but Jose Mourinho has left two senior players at home. The squad is made up

of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, nine midfielders and four strikers.

It is no secret that Chelsea remain in the hunt for another central defender.


Squad

Goalkeepers - Carlo Cudicini, Petr Cech, Lenny Pidgeley.


Defenders   - Paulo Ferreira, Glen Johnson, William Gallas, John Terry,
              Robert Huth, Wayne Bridge, Celestine Babayaro.

Midfielders - Scott Parker, Geremi, Tiago, Claude Makelele, Alexei Smertin,
              Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Damien Duff, Arjen Robben.

Strikers    - Didier Drogba, Mateja Kezman, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Adrian Mutu.



    No youngsters have been brought on the trip to bolster numbers, so

players with only a little pre-season training will have to share the

opening game with Celtic.


    The two senior players not selected are both goalkeepers, the position

which always was most populated in the Mourinho inheritance. Neil Sullivan

and Jurgen Macho will continue their pre-season in England.
