Sebek leaves Chelsea?

Upon Chelsea removing his profile from the Official Website today, further
investigations reveal Czech goalkeeper Jan Sebek may have left Stamford
Bridge. At the very least, he has returned to his former club Viktoria
Plzen in his native country, perhaps temporarily.

It would be a disappointing end to a Chelsea career that never got going.
His signing was heralded somewhat, as a giant young Czech goalkeeper
joining a club with Petr Cech would naturally garner much attention.
這讓人很失望，因為他甚至還沒在卻爾西起步就這樣結束了。
However, he was coming into an academy to compete with fellow first-year
goalkeeper Nick Heimann as well as established youth stopper Rhys Taylor
and schoolboys Aldi Haxia and Sam Walker.

He didn't feature in the 2007 pre-season and only ended up featuring once
in a Chelsea shirt, in a 4-1 victory at Bristol City in September. Midway
through the first half of the match he suffered a serious injury which he
ultimately wouldn't recover from sufficiently for the Blues, should the
departure be permanent.

With competition growing in goal, the decision was made in November to
allow Jan to return to the Czech Republic and link up with Viktoria Plzen,
a club he spent time on loan at from FK Tachov before joining Chelsea, in
order to aid his recovery. He speaks of the necessity to return and
re-gain match fitness: "I am at the age where I need....to train well. And
for this I have a greater chance at home."

Should he leave, he nonetheless speaks highly of the experience: "It was a
huge personal and sporting experience. I know how to behave and act at a
top professional club, what life involves for a young man who will focus
only on football."

He speaks of potentially returning to Chelsea so until this can be
confirmed, it's very much up in the air as to whether he has gone or not.
Should confirmation come to light, rest assured this blog will bring you
the news - but for now it's looking like Sebek has left Chelsea, which is
disappointing but understandable.
