Wayne Bridge has vowed to fight for his future at Chelsea after reports
linking his club with Arsenal's Ashley Cole.
Bridge told the Daily Mirror: "Even if Ashley did end up coming here - and I
haven't a clue about that - I'll stay and fight for my place.
"There's nowhere better to be at the moment than Chelsea and I won't be going
anywhere."
Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho recently admitted he will be looking to
sign a left-back in the summer but Bridge is determined not to let it affect
his game.
"I've not spoken to Ashley and I've not spoken to the manager about what he
might do in the future," he added.
"I don't want to know. But I do know the gaffer wants two class players for
each position. I know he's going to bring someone in and I'll compete with
them, whoever it is."
Bridge has played alongside Cole for England in a more attacking role on the
left side of midfield but he fears Chelsea are already blessed with plenty of
talent in that department.
"It's always possible I could play with Ashley here. We've played a few times
together for England this season.
"Spain wasn't the best but I thought it went okay against Austria and Poland,
so I suppose we could play together here at Chelsea.
"But with the likes of Duff and Robben, you don't want to be competing with
them. I just want to play left-back and I feel I'm doing well and that I'm
more confident now."
