Spirited Cech passes on thanks

Injured Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has thanked all his well-wishers for
their support, through his agent Pavel Zika.

The Czech Republic international underwent surgery after fracturing his skull
in a collision with Reading's Stephen Hunt on Saturday.

He has received a stream of support from both within and outside the
footballing world since and his agent has been surprised by the speed of his
player's recovery.

Zika has revealed he rang up to check on the player's condition expecting to
speak to the shot-stopper's wife, but instead found the player in high
spirits.

"Instead of hearing Martina, I heard 'Hi this is Petr'," Zika told CTK.

"He discussed Chelsea's upcoming encounter against Barcelona with me. He is
very much looking forward to the moment when they release him from hospital.

"Petr has asked me to thank all the people who have expressed their support
towards him, he is very grateful. He wishes to thank everybody."


Internazionale goalkeeper Francesco Toldo meanwhile seems set to stay at the
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza despite speculation linking him with Stamford Bridge.

The former Italian international is currently an understudy to number one
Julio Cesar in Serie A, and his agent believes he will remain in Italy for
the duration of the season.

"I haven't heard anything," Toldo's agent Claudio Pasqualin confirmed.

"Of course anything can happen in football, but I really think that where
Francesco wants to play is at Inter."
