Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech looks set to be sidelined for three to four
weeks with the calf injury he sustained in Tuesday's Champions League clash
with Schalke.
Cech was replaced by Carlo Cudicini at half-time and The Blues later stated
that he would 'almost certainly' miss this weekend's Premier League clash
with Everton.
He has now been left out of the Czech Republic squad for their Euro 2008
qualifiers against Slovakia and Cyprus, and national coach Karel Bruckner
does not think he will return to action until the start of next month.
"Petr is expected to be out for three or four weeks, I spoke with him,"
Bruckner said at a press conference to announce his latest squad.
"He will be fit for next year's international fixtures."
If Bruckner is right it means Cech will have to sit out Chelsea's Premier
League clash with Derby later this month, as well as the Champions League
game against Rosenborg.
Bruckner has selected Anderlecht's Daniel Zitka and Michal Danek of Viktoria
Plzen to cover for Cech, while he also hopes to have Arsenal midfielder Tomas
Rosicky at his disposal.
Milan defender Marek Jankulovski is a long-term absentee so Sparta Prague's
Michal Kadlec has been awarded his first call-up.
