PEARCE LAUGHS OFF THE 'HAND OF DROG'

Didier Drogba invited criticism from all angles after firing Chelsea closer
to the title - but Stuart Pearce refused to take an easy pot-shot.

Pearce said: "Maybe it was his studs. They're not the best. I know his boots
are not the greatest.

"I don't want to see my players diving. I prefer them to stand up as long
as they can. I'd like to think if they're not injured they will get up
and carry on."

Two-goal Drogba admitted after the game that he used his hand to control
the ball before scoring the second.

He was also quizzed about diving in a television interview because of a
number of controversies involving Chelsea recently.

West Brom boss Bryan Robson branded Drogba a diver, earlier this month,
and Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez criticised Arjen Robben for play-acting
to get Jose Reina sent off.

Last week, Alan Shearer accused Shaun Wright-Phillips of taking a dive to
get Robbie Elliott a red card in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Drogba told the BBC: "Sometimes I dive, sometimes I stay up," but the Ivory
Coast star then changed his mind and insisted he did not dive.

Chelsea suggested their French-speaking striker had been confused by the
question and tried to clarify the issue with a statement from the player.

In the statement, Drogba said: "Unfortunately in the emotion of winning
the game my comments have come across partly in the wrong way.

"I want to make clear that I don't dive, this was the intention of my
answer."
(我要澄清一下之前訪問我所要表達的是我不會假摔。)

Pearce said: "It was clearly handball but when the ball goes in my net,
whether it's within the rules or outside the rules, I am always
disappointed.
(皮爾斯認為絕對是手球，但是只要是球進了我的大門，不管有無違規，我都很不爽。)

"I've played in teams that have scored goals that have been maybe free-kicks
or handballs and I've taken the referee's honest decision.
(不管是這進球是任意球或者手球，我都接受裁判的決定。)

"I'm not going to moan about the referee's decision because next week we
might get a handball decision he won't see.
(對於裁判的判決我不打算抱怨，因為也許下個禮拜的比賽輪到我們手球而沒被察覺。)

"I wouldn't cancel a goal out that we'd scored but I do ask my players to
play as aggressively as they can within the rules of the game."
