Fabio Cudicini was one of most important italian goalkeeper ever, but he never
played in Italian National Team. After first steps in Udinese, he played in A.S.
Roma from 1958-59 to 1965-66, then he came to Brescia but in 1967 Nereo Rocco,
great manager of A.C. Milan, bought him. Fabio Cudicini played in A.C. Milan
from 1967-68 until 1971-72 (127 matches in Serie A) and was a legend for
italian football on sixties. He had a "nickname" : "ragno nero" ("black spider"
) after a wonderful match against Man UTD (0-1 at Old Trafford).

In 1970-71 Fabio Cudicini played 23 matches in Milan A.C. in italian first
division championship, he had some troubles after the match it decided this
championship : Inter-Milan 2-0, when Mario Corso of Inter beated him with a
free kick (Corso was a specialist like Beckham !). Milan loss this "scudetto"
and Cudicini his legendary skill. When he was in a "good day" he was unbeatable
, his arms, his legs stopped everything, with his black shirt and pants
( sometimes in winter long pants !) it seamed really to be a giant black
spider.

His most famous matches were : Celtic Glasgow -Milan (quarter of final European
Cup 1968) when in an unforgettable match Cudicini stopped the Europen Champions
and qualified Milan after a poor 0-0 in San Siro.
And Manchester United -Milan 1-0 (European Cup semi-final also in 1968) when
he was really unbeatable against Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, George Best and
Brian Kidd. In this match he received a bottle from the stands in his head, he
falled down but after few minutes of medical care he continued play until end
of match : he was a gentleman player.
