Lampard wants parity with the club's top earners and now appears to be set
to get his wish.
Asked when he might be signing a new deal, he stated: "Soon I hope. My agent
has been speaking to (Chelsea chief executive) Peter (Kenyon).
"I definitely want to sign and the club want to sign me I think. Hopefully,
we will get it done by the start of the season."
"There is a real freshness about the side this year," he continued.
"The training is very enjoyable, very hard work. I think the new signings are
exciting. I've had three weeks or so (on holiday), I'm raring to go.
"Last summer we got some good young English players.
"The most important thing now is that Chelsea want to sign good players.
"It doesn't matter if they are English or not, as long as they do the job for
Chelsea."
