England axe inspired me - Terry http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/4013035.stm John Terry has admitted a determination to prove Sven-Goran Eriksson wrong fired his outstanding form for Chelsea. Terry was dropped by Eriksson when Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand returned to England duty after suspension for missing a drugs test. Chelsea skipper Terry said: "I had a chat with Sven and told him I was going to carry on working hard and fight for my place. "I've had a good taste of England and I want to get my place back." Terry, who was left out for the game against Azerbaijan, added: "I came back to Chelsea, still full of confidence despite the fact I'd been dropped from the national side and wanted to prove Sven wrong. "I've not played as well when I've put on the England shirt as I've been doing for Chelsea. "All I can do, should I get a chance on Wednesday, is try again to impress." Terry is likely to get his chance to partner Ferdinand as Arsenal's Sol Campbell remains sidelined with a calf injury. England's Real Madrid striker Michael Owen predicted a "cracking game" when the two sides meet at his home Bernabeu stadium. "It's a strange one playing against some of your mates from your own team but it's happened before and I'm sure there'll be a bit of banter afterwards," said Owen. "But at the moment everyone's a bit nervous of putting their head on the block. "One or two players from each side knowing each other's game shouldn't make too much of a difference. "It'll be a great occasion in a fantastic stadium - all the lads who have never been here will be very impressed. "It'll be a cracking game between two heavyweights of the international scene. "If we play well and get a victory it will give us a massive amount of confidence." -- 人生愁恨何能免 銷魂獨我情何限 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.139.232.47
