Three Blues in PFA Player of Year shortlist

Petr Cech, John Terry and Frank Lampard make up half the shortlist
for the PFA Player of the Year award. This is the award voted for
by the Premiership players.
The other three are Steven Gerrard, Thierry Henry and Andy Johnson.
Frank Lampard came second in last season’s awards and he and John
Terry were in the Divisional team.
Other Chelsea players to have been shortlisted in the past are
Gianfranco Zola twice, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Ruud Gullit.
Top flight Divisional players selected for the team have been William
Gallas is 2003, Ruud Gullit in 1995, Andy Townsend in in 1992 and 1991,
and Kerry Dixon in 1985.
The awards are being presented on Sunday April 24th.
Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon said: "It's obviously fantastic
to have four nominations in the two PFA awards. The fact we have three,
Petr, John and Frank in the main award, and Arjen in the young player
award, bears testament to their great form as individuals this season,
but is also an honour to the whole team and to the management of Jose
Mourinho and his staff."

Robben in running for Young Player award

Arjen Robben is a contender for this season’s PFA Young Player of
the Year award, aiming to follow in the footsteps of last year’s
winner Scott Parker.
Parker was the first Chelsea player to pick one of the PFA honours,
inaugurated in 1974 and voted for by the players from all four divisions.
Now Robben can make it two-in-a-row having been listed as one of six
nominees.
The other five players are Jermain Defoe (Spurs), Stewart Downing
(Middlesbrough), Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney (both Man United)
and Shaun Wright-Phillips (Man City).
The winner will announced at the same ceremony as the senior award on
Sunday 24th April.
