Avram Grant expects England to miss John Terry and has also urged Steve
McClaren to pick Frank Lampard for the final Euro 2008 qualifier against
Croatia.

Chelsea, and England, captain Terry is out of next week's friendly with
Austria and subsequent qualifier with Croatia due to a knee injury, and is a
fortnight away from a return.

Blues boss Grant feels prudence is the best measure to take regarding Terry,
but acknowledges the centre-half's presence will be missed by his country.

"He knows the situation, he needs to be fit and he is not fit for the
moment," said Grant on Sky Sports News. "He is on the right way and in two
weeks he will be fit.

"We need to take care of him. He always gave his body for Chelsea and for the
national team. Now, we need to take care of him.

him in Russia and I think they miss him, but England need to win anyway."
Grant also believes that Chelsea midfielder Lampard, who came on as a
substitute in the last two qualifiers against Estonia and Russia, should be
recalled to the starting line-up.

Character
He added: "I think they need these two players very much. I was a national
coach and when you come to a target, you need players not just with quality,
but with character.
"With Frank and JT, in the game you can see them in difficult times how they
react, how they fight and their character, so it is my opinion that England
missed them a lot in Russia.
"I do not know for sure, but I think if he (Lampard) played, I'm sure the
result would have been different. England can win without him, but they can
play better I think with him."
