BOSS BEGINS CLUB AMERICA BUILD-UP

Chelsea's pre-season schedule kicks off on Saturday, and manager Jose
Mourinho has been discussing what to expect when the Blues meet Mexico's
Club America. Speaking to Chelsea TV, Mourinho expressed the importance of
players getting some match time under their belts.

'What I want is their condition to improve and the understanding of the
game principles. I'm not worried about results, I don't want the players
to feel that pressure,' he explained.

Mourinho has so far put his players under an intense training regime, with
six sessions in the first three days. 'After the sixth session they are
very, very tired,' said the manager. 'On Friday we train only once because
I want to give them conditions to play 45 minutes each.'

and are one of Mexico's top teams. At the game in San Jose on Saturday, it
is expected they will have a large support.

'Mexicans have a big passion for the game, and they are very enthusiastic

While stressing that the result is not important, Mourinho will be looking
for a performance from his players to show they are hungry, and is set to
give youth its chance, as 17-year-old Sam Hutchinson (pictured wearing red
bib) is expected to play.

'I know his mentality and I know he'll be a Chelsea player,' Mourinho said
of his young defender. 'The kid has big potential and because of his size,
we have to decide if he can be a top central defender or a top right back.
We have to see the definition of his body and make a decision,'

The players are looking forward to getting some game time, as training has
been demanding. Andriy Shevchenko believes getting off to a good start in
pre season is the key to a successful campaign.

'Every game is important because for the team, and I think every player
plays and it's very important to try and be very strong,' the Ukrainian
forward told Chelsea TV. 'I feel much better after the surgery. I believe
in the new season.'

Shevchenko underwent a hernia operation in the closing weeks of the last
campaign. 'I started working 10 days before now and I feel good. My
surgery is important surgery. I work at every training. I feel good.'
