Rajkovic launches ban appeal

Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic has decided to contest his one-year ban
from football.
Fifa imposed the ban in response to allegations that he spat at referee
Abdullah Al Hilali during Serbia's game against Argentina at the Beijing
Olympics.
Rajkovic has now launched an appeal and is set to travel to Zurich on 10th
November to present his case to Fifa. The 19-year-old is currently on a
season-long loan at FC Twente and the Dutch club are hoping he is
successful.
"We don't like it at all that the thing has lingered on already for so
long," Twente chairman Joop Munsterman told Voetbal International. "We
could have had Rajkovic for three months already, and we paid a lot of
money for him."
If Rajkovic loses his appeal, he could take his case to the Court of
Arbitration for Sport.
Rajkovic joined Chelsea from OFK Belgrade in 2005 before being loaned back
to the Serbian outfit for the next two years. He spent last season with
PSV Eindhoven and has yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues.
