Phil is big enough

"It is going to be totally different," said Ray Wilkins. "The Premier
League is the toughest league in the world; it's the best in the world.
"But it appears like he'll be up to the challenge. He's a big guy, he's
charismatic and I think having worked at international level, where you
only see your players once every couple months, this will be a breath of
fresh air to him and something he will warm to.
"It's a fantastic club and they should have someone that is of that
billing."

'Phil has it all'

Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy told Sky Sports News: "He has everything
going for him at this moment in time.
"If you look at his record in the past, that's how he's got this job. He
hasn't managed a club in Europe before so it will be interesting to see
how he adapts to that.
"Of course he's managed the Portugese national side to relative success;
he's done reasonably well without winning anything.
"But I'd go back to the way that he conducts himself and the way he is as
a man.
"Jose Mourinho was a manager that had fireworks in his belly and let
off steam.
"Avram Grant was a very different type of character; someone who was
perhaps a little bit more restrained in his comments, got on with the
chairman and was perhaps a bit of a yes man.
"Phil Scolari doesn't strike me as being that sort of person and I think
it's interesting that Roman Abramovich has gone back to that kind of
character.
"He's someone that Chelsea need and if they are going to move forward then
they need a character like him."

David Speedie is also impressed with Scolari's track record, which
includes winning the World Cup with Brazil, but he did sound a note of
caution.
"He's got great credentials, and obviously he's going to take the job
because he's going to get paid probably six or seven million a year, but
what more has he got to do than the previous managers?" asked the former
striker.
"What does Abramovich want? Has Scolari got to win the quadruple to keep
his job?" Time will tell.
