The FPF expect Tiago to link-up with his Portugal team-mates on Sunday in preparation for the Athens Games, which could potentially rob Chelsea of their £8million signing for the first three weeks of the season. The 23-year-old midfielder - recruited from Benfica last week - would miss four Barclays Premiership matches including the crucial opener against Manchester United if Portugal reached the latter stages of the tournament. Chelsea made an official approach to the FPF requesting that Tiago is relieved of his obligations in Greece but this was rejected and, on the grounds that the competition is sanctioned by FIFA, the Blues appear to have little chance of reprisal. But Chelsea remain hopeful there will be a positive conclusion to the dispute, enabling Tiago to avoid a tournament which Mourinho regards as unsuitable for a player of his calibre. "Portugal have lots of good young players and it's more important for Tiago that he trains and gets into good condition so he can be a good player for Portugal's A squad," he told the Evening Standard. "I don't think the Olympic Games and the sub-23 national team is good for his career. "I have a very good relationship with the Portuguese Football Federation and have always been very open with them. "I'm not worried because I always have good communication with the Olympic team coach." Chelsea are not the only Premiership club to have lost players to Portugal's Olympic dream with Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Boa Morte of Fulham both receiving call-ups. The saga is proving an unwanted distraction for Mourinho who is busy preparing Chelsea for their second match of the ChampionsWorld Series in America. They face Italian giants Roma in Pittsburgh on Wednesday evening (local time) looking to build on their impressive 4-2 victory over Celtic. Record signing Didier Drogba could make his first appearance for Chelsea since moving from Monaco for £24m while Tiago may also make his club debut. Two of last summer's recruits will be eager for a place in the starting line-up with Damien Duff close to a full recovery from his shoulder problem and Joe Cole anxious for an opportunity to impress Mourinho. Cole was used as a squad player by former boss Claudio Ranieri, making half of his 50 appearances from the bench last season and finding himself shunted around midfield. But the 22-year-old England ace believes he stands a better chance of forcing his way into Mourinho's first team plans because the Portuguese manager selects on merit. "Everything the manager has done so far has been spot on. There's nothing to worry about and I'm just going to go out and play my game," he said. "I want a place in the starting XI and it's up to me to prove I'm good enough. The manager has made some changes and is not going to be fazed by big names. "If you're doing well you're going to play. That's what a team like Chelsea needs - genuine competition for places." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 我把英文貼上去後..就發現..他實在是太多了...多到我懶得翻(路人:就是多才要翻譯啊) -- Deny your conditioning.Cry.Love your friends.
