Grant spurns offers with hopes of English return

BEIJING (AP) - Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is spurning offers from
several European teams in hopes of returning to England to emulate the
spell he had at Stamford Bridge.

"I have offers, but not from England for the moment. From Spain, from
Holland, but I want to stay in England," Grant told The Associated Press
on Saturday from the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, where he was watching
the Olympic athletics events.

在鳥巢看奧運的格蘭特接受採訪，他拒絕了西班牙和荷蘭方面的邀請，因為他想回英
格蘭執教。


Grant said he would be willing to wait out this season so that he can
return to a contending team.


"For the moment my first option is the Premier League and challenging in
the Premier League. I want a team that can challenge, that I can take it
forward like I did all my life. And then we will see," said Grant. "I
will look. I will get back to work if it takes some few months, but I will
go back."

他的首選是英超球隊，他喜歡挑戰。


Grant was relatively unknown when he replaced Jose Mourinho as Blues boss
in September 2007, only two months after coming to the south London club
in the position of director of soccer. Under Grant, Chelsea lost the
League Cup final in extra-time to Tottenham and came second by two points
to Manchester United in the Premier League. He also guided the team to the
Champions League final, but was fired three days after it lost to United
on penalties.

"It was an amazing season, I took a team that was on the way down and we
did amazing things," Grant said. "I'm very proud of what we did and
enjoy (it) and I'm not looking back, I'm looking forward."

恐龍認為那是個很不可思議的賽季，球隊從低潮中奮發向上，他很驕傲，但他會繼續
往前看。


Grant said everything was "OK" with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who
hired former Brazil and Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to replace him.
"I wish them all the best,'' the 53-year-old Israeli said.

格蘭特宣稱他和阿布之間沒有問題，並祝福大家。


Grant, like the 91,000 in the Olympic stadium, was blown away by Usain
Bolt's world-record breaking 9.69-second run to win gold in the 100-meter
men's sprint.

"I was never watching the Olympics Games and it's great to see now how
people need to be at their best on a particular day," said Grant, who was
also following the football tournament. "It's the first August after 35
years that I'm free so I'm enjoying my time and I love football and I miss
the football and I will go back.''
