Another 1-0, another Premiership victory. Are we that other London club in
disguise?
Since Everton had several early chances to open the scoring, Claudio Ranieri
was relieved more then anything after the game.
“It was a competitive match,” he said. “Up and down all the time. In the
first half we were waiting for them too much. They created good chances and
maybe we were a bit anxious.
“They kept us under pressure in the midfield. I asked Geremi to close a little
more. It was good because I the second half we played football, tried to slow
it down and still create openings.”
It worked well. The Cameroonian was as good in the second half as Joe Cole had
been in the first.
Claudio was delighted with his young England midfielder’s performance. “Joe
Cole made a fantastic performance,” he declared. “He was at the right moment
to do the right thing. I have a lot of confidence in him. I like everything
about him. Every time he got the ball he did something for us.”
Everton gaffer David Moyes was obviously disappointed at the defeat but
pinpointed the loss of their three-match clean-sheet run before pointing out
the obvious misses.
“From the start we missed a great opportunity,” he said. “We made more
chances against Chelsea than we have against some lesser sides. It was
frustrating.”
