Ranieri: We hold key to three trophies
Claudio Ranieri has moved to galvanise his Chelsea side ahead of Sunday's
FA Cup tie at Arsenal by declaring that they still hold the key to all three
major competitions.
Chelsea are six points behind Arsenal in the title race, have to take on the
holders at Highbury in the FA Cup fifth round and have been drawn against
Stuttgart in the Champions League knockout stages.
However, while Ranieri is still refusing to get too carried away by promising
success this season, he is keen to ensure that his team are not intimidated by
their trip to Highbury.
Their record against Arsenal may be poor, with the Gunners having knocked them
out of the FA Cup in each of the past three seasons.
Ranieri nevertheless declared: 'We have still got everything in our hands - the
FA Cup, the Champions League and the Premiership.
'It is important now to pull together. Only at the end of the season can we say
that maybe we could have done something more or not.
'I am a positive man and I am very hopeful. I hope to win something. I don't
want to promise anything because it is not easy but I am ambitious and I want
to do something important here.
'Our win at Portsmouth was important as we wanted to catch up Manchester United
and now we have achieved it. Now there are two great matches against Arsenal.
'There are now three months to the end of the season and everything is in our
hands. We will fight until the end and then see where we arrive.'
Ranieri is hoping to have goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini back in the side after
missing the past two games with a groin strain, while Marcel Desailly also
faces a fitness test.
Joe Cole, John Terry, Claude Makelele and Scott Parker nevertheless returned in
the midweek victory at Portsmouth, while Hernan Crespo came off the bench to
score on his comeback from a calf injury.
Damien Duff is close to a return from an Achilles injury, although he has
recently been ruled out with Celestine Babayaro, Mario Stanic, Emmanuel Petit
and Juan Sebastian Veron, while Geremi is on his way back from the African
Nations Cup.
John Terry should nevertheless be on hand to hold the defence together, having
been voted man of the match in his 150th Chelsea appearance in the 2-0 midweek
win at Portsmouth, when he was described by Ranieri as 'unbelievable'.
Goalkeeper Neil Sullivan told Chelsea TV: 'Before you come to these sort of
places, you see that John is in the England side and obviously doing well.
'But it is only when you work with someone day in and day out that you realise
how good they are. Then when you play behind them, again you realise how
fantastic he is.'
New signing Parker is, meanwhile, eligible to play, having not featured for
Charlton in earlier rounds and he is ready to continue adapting to the right
side of midfield if called upon.
Parker, who scored his first Chelsea goal at Fratton Park, insisted: 'I have
never played a full competitive game there really, so it is pretty new to me
but if that is the position I need to play to get a game then I will do it.'

Terry那一場真的表現的很棒.man of the match 實至名歸
幾個險球都判斷的很好, 明天後防應該會很辛苦吧
加油, Terry!!!!
也祝福即將出爐的國家隊名單,Terry能順利上榜
