Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has warned his side their Barclaycard
Premiership title dream will be effectively over if they lose at home to
Arsenal this weekend.
Ranieri's side lost at Highbury in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday
and face a rematch with the Gunners in the Premiership in a match Ranieri
fears his side cannot afford to lose.
Ranieri has yet to manage a victory over Arsenal during his time at
Stamford Bridge and with his side six points adrift of the league leaders.
He told Chelsea TV: 'If we win, the gap is very close. If Arsenal win
for us it will be maybe impossible because nine points are too many.'
The Italian will not enjoy the best preparation though, with a round
of internationals accounting for several key members of his squad.
His players will undergo a relatively rushed preparation for such a
key game, with Ranieri adding: 'I'll see my players tomorrow evening and
the day after there will be only one training session together and then
there'll be a match.
'That is very difficult. But international matches are very important
for everyone in the country, I understand that.'
