http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,46-1124825,00.html Wednesday 25th February 2004 Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri admits Roman Abramovich may already have made up his mind to change his coach in the summer. The Italian has been placed under a ridiculous amount of pressure this term, after spending so much of his wealthy owner's personal fortune to transform his team, but seemingly failing to sustain a title challenge or FA Cup run. The Blues are, of course, still in the biggest competition of all - the UEFA Champions League - but Ranieri knows he could be living on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge. "Another coach in my place?" he told Corriere dello Sport. "The matter is simple. "If he (Abramovich) has decided to change the coach at the end of the season, I surely can't change his mind. "As for myself, I can only say that I'll continue working as I have to take the right to see out my contract. "The signals I have had are different - I've had a blank sheet." Ranieri is clearly hoping it is not a fait accompli and he will be handed the opportunity to buy another two players to add to his squad in the summer as another major upheaval is not planned by 'The Tinkerman'. He never says 'no' to my requests," he added. "He never say player costs too much. "He arrived at Chelsea saying: 'Let's build, let's work and then let's win'. "Last summer, we bought about ten players so we made a big revolution. Next season we would only have to define the building we have done with about two signings." Abramovich is a hands-on boss but at least appears to have been honest with his affable coach. "When he arrived last summer, I told Abramovich: 'If you want, I will leave'," Ranieri admitted. "He answered me, saying: 'I believe in you'. I don't know if he said it out of conviction or necessity because he hadn't been able to find a coach to put in my place. "As far as I know, he hasn't changed ideas. To build a big Chelsea, there is a lot to do and he gave me the possibility of a free hand. It is me who talks with the people who are building our new headquarters. "When Abramovich comes, he sees the training sessions. Friday afternoon , for example, before the match with Arsenal, he was there. "He's close to us in a positive way. "After the defeat? Surely, he would have preferred winning, but he liked the match. In fact, he told us he found it absolutely interesting."
