Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri says that his side have nothing to lose
from facing Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals.
Ranieri has already had to sit and watch his side lose three times to
The Gunners this season, and says they are clear underdogs going into their
latest encounter.
Chelsea will have to overcome their Arsenal hoodoo if they are to make
it into the last four of the competition, with the North Londoners unbeaten
in 16 games against their West London foes.
The Italian coach says that his men have nothing to lose from the tie,
but everything to gain if they could battle their way past the in-form
Premiership leaders.
"I always say that we must believe in ourselves," Ranieri told Chelsea
TV.
"Arsenal are one of the best sides in Europe and are used to being at
a high level. They have been working for a long time to win the Champions
League and they have a little more experience than us.
"But that's okay. Nothing is a certainty, anything could happen.
"The Arsenal players will be happier than us [with the draw] but that's
okay. We will work hard to try to go into the semi-finals.
"Between two teams of the same country, only the competition and the
referees are different. That could still have an effect though.
"Arsenal are in very good form, all their good players are in good
condition. We are not as I don't have Juan Sebastian Veron or Carlo Cudicini
, who will be out for a minimum of a month, but that is football and we
still want to try."
Ranieri is also without Glen Johnson for a couple of weeks but he will
be desperate to get back in action against Arsenal in the biggest domestic
Champion League clash for years.
