CLAUDIO THE GLADIATOR STILL FIGHTING

Claudio Ranieri has revealed he sees himself as a gladiator as he
battles to retain the Chelsea manager's job.
The Italian was speaking ahead of the UEFA Champions League tie with
Arsenal and refused to answer questions about his future at the press
conference.
However, the amiable coach did admit he could be on borrowed time at
Stamford Bridge and expressed great joy at hearing of the support of his
players.
"I don't want to speak about this, I'm only speaking about the match,"
he said, when asked about his position.
"Everything else is clear. I want to speak about the match.
"It's a different competition to play in the quarter final of the
Champions League. It's a good match. Of course, it's two legs and I think it
will be very interesting.
"Arsenal have beaten us three times this season. They are playing very,
very well and deserve to stay at the top of The Premiership.
"Yes, I believe in the law of averages. I believe indeed in a lot of
things.
"Sooner or later, I hope sooner. Not later," he laughed. "It could be too
late."
Defender John Terry spoke of his admiration and support for Ranieri.
"The manager's done a fantastic job," he stated. "There's a great team
spirit amongst the lads.
"You see how much we all enjoy training with him and we're 100 percent
behind him, that's all I can say."
Ranieri responded by admitting he draws strength from such comments.
"They are my blood, my strength," the former Atletico Madrid boss added.
"That is important.
"Their support is fantastic but I said to them: 'Ranieri is not important.
Chelsea are important'.
"I am focused on Chelsea and they must be focused on Chelsea. That is the
more important thing.
"I am not stupid. I am not crazy. I am like my boy - I am a gladiator.
"I like this. I am enjoying this. Why not? It's face-to-face."
