Kezman offers support to Mutu

LONDON (Reuters) - Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman has offered his support to
Romanian club mate Adrian Mutu whose future is in doubt after a failed drugs
test.
England's players' union has said that Mutu tested positive for cocaine and the
25-year-old striker is waiting to see what, if any, punishment his club and the
Football Association hand out to him.
"Adrian's a good guy and I hope he comes back to the club," Serbia striker
Kezman told the London Evening Standard on Thursday. "I've not spoken to him
for a few days but will try to give him my support in this difficult moment in
his life.

"It's difficult to know what the club will decide, but it must be even harder
for him. If you look at Mutu there's no doubting his quality and we need a
player like him.

"He's just made a mistake, has said he's sorry and we'll see what happens."

Mutu could be banned for two years for the offence, although past precedent
suggests he will be shown leniency if he agrees to a rehabilitation programme.
His agent said on Wednesday Mutu was arranging a programme of daily counselling.
Neither the FA nor Chelsea have commented on the matter so far.
