A loan deal that will see Alexis Nicolas spend the first three months of the
coming season at Brighton brings the number of Chelsea reserve team squad
members out on loan to four.
Midfielder Nicolas, who is 21 years-old, captained the reserves for the last
season-and-a-half and made his first team debut in January in an FA Cup tie at
Scarborough, following it with his League debut a fortnight later against
Charlton.
Regular first team football is the next requirement for him and he will
hopefully receive that at the south coast club, freshly promoted to the renamed
Football League Championship.
The other players spending next season on loan are Joe Keenan, Sebastian
Kneissl and Kevin McKinlay.
Midfielder Keenan remains at Belgian top division club Westerlo where he played
the latter stages of last season and he will be joined there by Sebastian
Kneissl. The 21 year-old striker will be looking to reproduce at a higher
standard the form that saw him finish top scorer in Chelsea’s reserve league
last season.
Winger McKinlay, who has made four appearances for the reserves, will spend
another year at Scottish Division One side Ross County where he ended the last
campaign.
The remaining Chelsea reserve team members secured a 4-0 win against Northwood
on Thursday evening in their second pre-season friendly. There were two goals
for Craig Rocastle and one each for Michele Gallaccio and Danny Woodards.
