And they want that answer in the next 48 hours. It's a local newspaper in the Basque country - El Correo de Bilbao - which reports that the negotiations for the transfer of left-back Asier Del Horno will be decided, one way or another, this weekend, as Chelsea have asked Bilbao for a final answer in the next 48 hours. Negotiations between Chelsea and Athletic appeared to have reached a dead end since an Athletic delegation (headed by club President Fernando Lamikiz) went to London last week to meet with Peter Kenyon, and Chelsea are trying to unblock them. Chelsea's intentions are now clear: they were only prepared to sit down with Athletic once they had reached a preliminary agreement with Milan for the transfer of Kakha Kaladze, the Rosineri left-back from Georgia, therefore allowing Chelsea not only a fall-back position should discussions on Del Horno fail, but also put pressure on Athletic. That happened yesterday when our Peter met in Milan with Adriano Galliani, Milan's head suit. "We'll meet again next week to discuss these questions in more detail", Kenyon said as he left Milan. Of course, another of those 'questions' was the fate of Hernan Crespo, Chelsea player on loan to Milan for the moment. Apparently Milan have suggested that Kaladze is worth a cool €15 million. Chelsea reckon that that's a gross over-evaluation. Which is why Kenyon has turned back to Athletic in their search for a left-back. Chelsea haven't given Athletic a definite timetable for meetings, but their position is nevertheless one of power: Athletic value Asier Del Horno very highly, but there are very few clubs that can pay €16 million for a defender. Which is why Chelsea are in a position to set the timetable for a possible purchase of Del Horno. Athletic don't have an appointment with Chelsea yet, but it is said that Athletic are taking very seriously Chelsea's meeting in Milan. It is not clear whether Kenyon will be visiting Bilbao, but the condition is that Chelsea feel that Athletic are likely to accept something close to Chelsea's offer, which is for €12 million in cash and a further €4 in various incentives. That makes a total of €16 million; Athletic would like the transfer fee to consist of a higher proportion in cash. If Athletic respond quickly, Kenyon could be on the plane to tie up the deal within hours. Or so it is said. Del Horno, who last night finished his obligations to the Spanish national shirt, is now on holiday. Says the Spanish press, the player himself is prepared to break off from his holidays to take part in any crunch meeting about his transfer. ~~~~ 所以還是有可能來?! ~~~~ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.121.197.177
