     The least known of Chelsea's 2004 Portuguese arrivals, Nuno signed on
a three-year contract from second division club Penafiel, where he had
just won promotion and been named their Player of the Year.


     A centre-back or defensive midfielder, it was in the first of those
roles that he mostly played in the reserves last season but it was as a
left-back in the FA Cup v Scunthorpe that he made his first team debut. He
played well.


     An Under 21 international, he is currently on loan at Maritimo in the
Portuguese top flight to extend his experience of first team football.
