     A little over 2 short years ago Juan Sebastian Veron was widely
regarded as one of the very best midfielders in the world and when
Manchester United paid a whopping 28 million for him there were few who
argued he wasn't worth it.


     Yet after 2 years at Old Trafford some critics will say he didn't
quite reproduce the form he had in the past for Lazio and Argentina. Of
course he had games where his sublime abilities shone through and he
looked the World Class player he is capable of being but the question is
why and will it be different at Chelsea.


     There are suggestions it could be, he is likely to find himself in a
more settled central midfield role that he was never regularly given at
United, he has had 2 years to adapt to the Premiership (something he was
increasingly showing signs of doing) and he has something to prove.


     Opinion is divided and until he starts playing regularly for the
Blues it probably will remain so. Yet Chelsea paid ￡13 million less for
his services than Manchester United and if Veron does start playing in the
Premiership at the level he has in the past and has in flashes for United
it could prove to be one of the bargains of the summer and a move Ferguson
may yet regret.
