Glen Johnson
The 2003/4 season saw the teenage right-back make his full England
debut less than a year after his first taste of the Premiership at West
Ham. Glen's rise has been truly meteoric but with pace, strength,
composure and an eye for the odd goal, he rarely looked out of place in
hisfirst season at Chelsea, playing a major part with 32 appearances.
A product of West Ham's fruitful youth academy, Glen spent a short
spell on loan at Millwall before returning to become the one success story
in the Hammers' relegation season.
His personal Premiership status was maintained on becoming Chelsea's
costliest ever teenage signing at £6 million pounds. Last campaign saw
Glen become understudy to Paulo Ferreira, stepping in after the
Portuguese's injury. Under Mourinho's tutelage, he is looking to add more
defensive know-how to his game but with time on his side, looks set to be
a major player for years to come.
