Now boss at Millwall, after leading the Lions into a cup final and into Europe, Wise now takes on his former boss - Glenn Hoddle - at Wolves. I wasn't that surprised when he went into management," says Gavin Peacock, the vice-captain when Wise led Chelsea, under Glenn Hoddle's management, to the 1994 FA Cup final. "One day Glenn came in and said to us, 'The two of you can take training tomorrow.' I went home and spent all day preparing my session. The next day I had mine all planned out, but Wisey had no plan at all. Somehow we got through it. I asked him that day what he wanted to do when he finished playing, and he said: 'I want to be a manager, me and Jonah [Vinnie Jones]'." Eddie Newton, who played in that Chelsea team who lost the 1994 final 4-0 to Manchester United said: "Wisey's good for team spirit. He brings people together. He probably makes sure they socialise together, eat together, train together, do everything together." Wise, despite his desire for success, was initially hostile to Hoddle after the latter's appointment in June 1993. "They are both, how can I say, adamant about the way they do things," says Newton. "There weren't arguments, just misunderstandings." Chelsea's then chairman Ken Bates remembers one incident: "We were losing at half-time to Southampton but all Hoddle said was, 'Keep playing football, it will come right in the end.' Dennis blew a fuse. 'I've never heard such a load of crap in all my life. What we're actually going to do is get out there and kick the shit out of them.' Hoddle shut up." "Wisey was always a leader," says Peacock. "There were occasions when he and Glenn would clash in the dressing room. There were one or two spicy encounters but in general it was a working relationship." On Wise's managerial skills, Peacock said: "Perhaps he's not the greatest tactician but he's got his own ideas, and more than anything he just wants to win." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- sing to me sing to me sI CAN'T FEELng to me sing to me sing to me sing sing to me sing to me sing to me siI AM NUMBsing to me sing to me sing SO WHAT IS THE WORTH IN ALL OF THISng to me sing to me sing to me sing sing to me sing to me sing to me siSO WHAT IS THE WORTH IN ALL OF THIS sing to meIF THE CHILD IN YOUR HEADng to me sing to me sing to me sing sing to me sing to me sing to me siIF THE CHILD IS DEADsing to me sing -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.168.35.209
