Reflecting on the Barca battle plan

As the dust settles on the heavyweight Chelsea v Barcelona contest,
Arjen Robben and Jose Mourinho have talked on the variation of formation
used at the start of the second leg. The selection of Robben, Joe Cole and
Damien Duff, plus Didier Drogba led to a move away from the usual 4-3-3
formation.

“We changed a little bit,” confirmed Robben, talking to Chelsea TV.
“We played with Duffer and Coley on the wings and I played just behind
Didi. It was difficult. First-half we played a lot of long-balls and I was
waiting and guessing a little bit on the second balls, and we didn't get a
lot of them.”
羅本待在中間，等待德羅巴給他的第二落點，但效果很差。
Mourinho explained why he made the decision to go with Drogba and
Robben centrally ahead of a four-man midfield. He said: “The thinking
behind that was to have three fast players to make Arjen more free than
normal; to try to get Arjen behind defenders because defenders want to
press Joe Cole and Duff as wingers. Also to try to get second balls from
Didier and at the same time give more space for Maka and Lampard to have
the ball in midfield.
解放羅本，也讓德羅巴製造機會給他，而且給蘭帕德和馬卡更多空間。
“The team didn't play a wonderful game partly because Barcelona were
tactical. Normally they are not tactical, they are about the talent of the
players, but this time they thought the game tactically and they defended
a lot.”
但球隊打得並不好，巴薩也一反常態的戰術化，較偏防守。
