Asier del Horno came through 45 minutes and Wayne Bridge another 90 last night
on their comeback trails following injury.

Chelsea scored twice in the first-half but failed to press home their
advantage. Del Horno played left-back in the first-half and Bridge was
left-wing. Then Bridge withdrew to left-back for the second-half.

Reserve team manager Mick McGiven said: “We played very well in the
first-half. We scored the two goals, the goalkeeper was making saves, we got
our crosses in. But in the second-half we kept giving the ball away.”

Phil Younghusband scored the opening goal, his first of the season, putting
away a good pass by Bridge. Jimmy Smith slid in the second at the far post from
Filipe Morais’ cross.

“Now we’re calling him ‘Goal a game Smith’”, Mick joked. “His last three
goals for us, against Southampton, Watford and here against Norwich have been
quality goals.”
