FACING BLACKBURN'S FAMILIAR FACES

Ricardo Carvalho, absent through illness the last time Chelsea were in action
in the Premiership, has two cup match clean sheets to his name since
recovering. His next task is to keep an old friend quiet.

Blackburn Rovers, visitors to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening for a vital
league match, will unleash their 15-goal striker Benni McCarthy at our defence.

The South African has been one of the undoubted successes from last summer's
influx of players to England, having signing from Porto where he played three
seasons.

But as McCarthy's former Porto striking colleague Helder Postiga showed (one

Jose Mourinho, who brought McCarthy into the Porto squad for the Champions
League winning season adds:

If you are the second-placed team and you want to go to the first place, you
have to win against Blackburn and after you have to win at Charlton away. Both

McCarthy won't be the only familiar face alighting the Blackburn team coach on
Wednesday. With the possible exception of Leeds United, the Lancashire club
must employ the most ex-Chelsea personnel with manager Mark Hughes and coaches
Eddie Niedzwiecki and Kevin Hitchcock on board.
