In-form Reserves at home
Monday, Jan 31, 2005
Chelsea Reserves face Portsmouth at home tonight, hoping to make it an
impressive five wins a row.
The second victory in the current sequence was away against Portsmouth
at the beginning of December, a brave Danny Woodards goal 16 minutes
from time the difference between the sides.
A reshuffling of fixtures brings the two sides face-to-face for a
second time in a short spell with Chelsea’s good recent form having
moved the team well ahead of Portsmouth in the Barclays Premiership
Reserve League South. We are currently 9th, five points ahead of
Portsmouth in 13th.
Coach Mick McGiven (pictured) selects Woodards again as part of a Chelsea
attack to which Sebastian Kneissl returns, having missed last week’s win
over West Ham through illness. Adrian Pettigrew comes in for Robert Huth
and there is a start at left-back for Ben Hudell in place injured Sam Tillen.
The full Chelsea line-up tonight is:
Lenny Pidgeley, Nuno Morais, Adrian Pettigrew, Steven Watt, Ben Hudell,
Craig Rocastle, Anthony Grant, Danny Hollands (Capt), Filipe Oliveira,
Sebastian Kneissl, Danny Woodards.
Subs: Yves Ma-Kalambay, James Younghusband, Jimmy Smith, Joe Tillen,
Philip Younghusband.
Portsmouth:
Guatell, Vongas, Cooper, Harris, Pearce, Angus, Cousins, Wilson, Keene,
Eyles, Horsted.
Subs: Harris (Gk), Bye, Settle, Hartman.
The game is at Aldershot Town FC, kick-off 7pm.
