Reserve date with St. Mary's

Striker Philip Younghusband will make his first start for the Chelsea reserve
side this evening as they travel to face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Younghusband, who is 17 years-old, impressed when coming on as a late
substitute in the last reserve game, forcing Arsenal’s goalkeeper into two
saves, and has been given the opportunity in place of Filipe Oliveira who is
away with Portugal Under 21s.
The attack has an unusually young look to it with Younghusband and 17 year-old
Joe Tillen joined by 18 year-old Michele Gallaccio. He comes in for the more
experienced Danny Woodards who injured a knee in the last outing.
With Nuno Morais accompanying Oliveira on international duty, there is a place
for Adrian Pettigrew in central defence while with Lenny Pidgeley having been a
victim of illness in the club, Yves Ma Kalambay will guard the goal.
There are some familiar names in the Southampton team as they field six players
with first team experience.
Long-serving Matthew Oakley continues his comeback after over a year out
through injury while others using the game for rehabilitation are lanky striker
Peter Crouch and French duo Yoann Folly and Leandre Griffit.
David Prutton, a ￡2.5 million signing from Forest two years ago, and Leon Best
are others with first team experience currently playing in the reserves; Best
is joint top scorer in the Premiership Reserve League South with eight goals.
