Derby day for Reserves

Chelsea Reserves head north to Derby County’s Pride Park this evening with a
young starting line-up looking for a first win of the season.
Coach Mick McGiven reverts to his regular squad having been allowed to field
Scott Parker, Celestine Babayaro and Robert Huth last time out – a 1-1 home
draw with Ipswich who grabbed a final minute equaliser.
Nuno Morais, the 20 year-old recent signing from Portugal is likely to continue
in midfield while Michael Mancienne, fresh from captaining England Under 17s to
victory at the weekend, returns. He is set to play right-back.
Michele Gallaccio, scorer of Chelsea’s one reserve goal this season is on the
bench so the attack will be led by Danny Woodards with 17 year-old Jimmy Smith
coming into midfield for his first ever reserve team start.
With Lenny Pidgeley in Poland with the England Under 21 squad, Yves Ma Kalambay
has his first taste of reserve goalkeeping action this campaign.
Derby lost heavily in their one other home game this season, 4-1 to Southampton
but beat Watford 2-0 away in their other game. Tonight they feature in their
ranks experienced Bosnian international defender Mo Konjic, returning from
injury and midfielder Ben Wilkinson, son of Howard Wilkinson.

The Derby starting eleven is: Grant, Doyle, Martin, Konjic, Mills, Cassidy,
Booth, Wilkinson, Nyatanga, Labarthe Tome, Junior.
The game kicks-off at 7pm with full live coverage on Chelsea TV beginning at
6-30. Kerry Dixon is the studio expert while Chelsea Masters star Jason Cundy
co-commentates.
