The Blues are undefeated under Jose Mourinho and have conceded just one goal since the Portuguese coach took charge. They're protecting a 100% home Premiership record, challenging for a fifth successive victory at Stamford Bridge, and need all three points to keep pace with last season's start when they bagged 16 points from the first six games. Frederic Kanoute gave Spurs the lead in this corresponding fixture almost exactly a year ago. That advantage lasted just 10 minutes before Frank Lampard headed the equaliser and then Adrian Mutu turned the game around three minutes later. The Romanian then sealed the victory with his second goal. It eventually ended 4-2 in what turned out to be Glenn Hoddle's penultimate match in charge of the White Hart Lane club. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR are also unbeaten under a new coach. Frenchman Jacques Santini has seen his charges win two and draw three of their first five games. Now they must break a 14 year hoodoo and the biggest jinx in modern top-division football. They have not beaten their local rivals in 28 League matches, losing eight and drawing four of the 12 Premiership visits to the Bridge. They've lost 21 of 33 League and Cup contests home and away with the glamour side from the west end. (Their only win coming in a League Cup tie at White Hart Lane in January 2002.) Spurs missed out on the chance to move into third place, when held to a goalless draw by Norwich last time out. On the road, the north Londoners have failed to score in five of the last nine top flight encounters. Spurs' last victory at Stamford Bridge was 1-2 in the old First Division on 10 February 1990 when David Howells and Gary Lineker were on the scoresheet. Referee: Mike Riley (Leeds) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEQUENCES/RECENT FORM CHELSEA Going into the weekend: 2nd 13 points Beaten Manchester United (1-0 h), Birmingham (0-1 a), Crystal Palace (0-2 a) and Southampton (2-1 h) and drawn 0-0 away to Aston Villa so far in the Premiership. Undefeated in six games this season, following the midweek Champions League triumph. Unbeaten in eight Premiership matches. Won six and drawn two since losing 2-1, away to Newcastle, on 25 April. Kept clean sheets in four of the five League games so far. (Managed 32 block-outs last season in all competitions, 21 in the Premiership). Hold the tightest defence in the top division - just one goal conceded in seven and a half hours of Premiership football. James Beattie's goal for Southampton after only 12 seconds of the last game at the Bridge, is the only score Chelsea have conceded in all competitions this term. But going into this round of matches, Chelsea stand equal 9th on the Premiership's scoring chart with 1.2 goals per game, as opposed to Arsenal's 3.8 - the only club above them in the table that matters. Chelsea have scored six goals in five outings - Arsenal 19. Enjoyed successive home top division victories over Southampton and Leeds (last season), and Manchester United and Southampton in his campaign. Undefeated in eight home League games. Won six and drawn two at the Bridge, since losing 1-2 to Arsenal on 21 February. The 0-0 draw at Villa Park last Saturday, was the first occasion in nine top flight matches that the Blues had failed to score. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Going into the weekend: 6th 9 points Defending a seven match unbeaten run in the Premiership. Won four and drawn three Premiership games since losing 1-0, away to Aston Villa on 2 May. Won two and drawn one on the road since the defeat at Villa Park. Managed three Premiership clean sheets so far this season, and achieved five block-outs in the last seven top League engagements. Conceded just two goals in five Premiership games this season, and three goals in the last eight.
