Last thoughts on Spurs with Eidur

Following a day off on Monday after Sunday’s draw with Tottenham, the players
returned to training today, Tuesday, and a rare week without a Tuesday or
Wednesday match.
After a second consecutive domestic 0-0 draw there has been much frustration,
especially as the approach play of the team has been so good.
In the last reflection on Sunday’s game, this is how Eidur Gudjohnsen saw it
when talking to Chelsea TV.
“Very frustrating because it was a great opportunity for us to close the gap
with Arsenal again. But saying that, we can’t dwell on this for too long, we
just have to stay positive and look forward to the next game.”

Should we have done more or do we just accept that Tottenham are very strong
defensively?
“Well I think it was a game where if we had scored one, we probably would have
scored four more. It was just a matter of getting that first goal. We didn’t
create many clear-cut chances, one with Didier, which I put him through after a
few minutes, and then half-chances.

“I think we had good possession, we played well, the spirit was there, the
effort was there, we all worked hard and really played for each other. But it
was frustrating that we couldn’t score. Obviously when you can’t score it’s
still important to be solid at the back as we were, apart from one header from
Robbie Keane and that’s when Petr made a great save, so in that respect we
were quite good.”

“Yeah, definitely. I think at times we just have to gamble a little bit more
with our runs going into the box and be a little bit more ruthless. I think
that will come. I think we can all still feel that we we’ll improve a lot as
the season goes on. It’s not a disaster even though obviously it’s two points
dropped, in my opinion. It’s not a disaster and it’s definitely something
we’ll put straight in the next few games.”

“I enjoy it because at times I was getting a lot of the ball. All we have to
do is try and play off each other a little bit more. I found one of his runs
early on, after a few minutes, which was pleasing because I want to get a bit
of a link going between me and Didier, obviously. And me and Joe have to be
careful we don’t make the same movements, we have to run off each other a bit
when he comes short to get the ball I have to go in behind and visa versa.”

“Oh yeah, definitely. I was unlucky a couple of times, a few headers and that,
and the volley against the post. I don’t know if the referee had given an
offside for that but if one had dropped probably a few more would have gone in.
”

How’s the head?
“It’s fine. I think I headed more balls this game than I’ve ever done and I
never thought about it, or it never crossed my mind. I said to the staff as
well, what’s the worst that could happen, it could open up again – so nothing
serious.”
'沒事.我在這場比賽頭球比以往還要多,我從沒想到傷口,或是掛念在心上.我告訴工作人員
,最糟不過是傷口又裂開了-所以沒啥好擔心的.'
