本週六 晚上23:00 倫敦史丹福球場 Chelsea v Everton preview by Alex Dunn - Last Updated 5 Nov 2004 EvertonStamford Bridge hosts Everton in what should be an intriguing contest as David Moyes' overachievers face Jose Mourinho's impressive Chelsea. The Toffees have paid little respect to pre-season expectations and are handily placed in third, having already picked up maximum spoils on seven occasions. Only Chelsea and Arsenal have recorded more victories this term, eight, and Mourinho will be eyeing top spot as they are inferior to their North London counterparts only on goal difference. Everton could only pick up a point last weekend against Aston Villa but on their travels, the disciplined and industrious Merseysiders have taken 13 out of a possible 15. Chelsea's controlled midweek success over CSKA Moscow further enhanced the growing reputation of Arjen Robben and the talented Dutch forward is almost certain to start at the weekend. Mourinho has been at pains to rid Chelsea of their 'boring' tag but it is only since the return from injury of Robben that the goals have flowed - with their last two Premiership outings yielding eight. Chelsea, who are chasing their sixth successive victory in all competitions, are hopeful that William Gallas will shake off the neck strain that forced him off on Tuesday, while Glen Johnson is likely to be sacrificed for the return of Paulo Ferreira. Russian workhorse Alexei Smertin is still struggling with a groin strain and that could mean a fourth start in the last five games for the previously peripheral Scott Parker. However, Mourinho could call call upon compatriot Tiago to work in tandem with Claude Makelele and Frank Lampard. Didier Drogba's absence means Chelsea will persevere with a three-pronged attack, with Robben and Damien Duff looking to continue excellent recent form. For Everton, Moyes is left to deliberate who will replace the suspended Lee Carsley, who is set to complete the final match of his ban following a recent red card in the Carling Cup. Steve Watson deputised against Villa but Nigerian Joseph Yobo is also pushing for selection having now made a full recovery from injury. Yobo has anchored Nigeria's midfield in the past and could get the nod courtesy of his superior defensive qualities. TIAGO?? -- Deny your conditioning.Cry.Love your friends.
